In 2004 Vicki and Greg Spofford established a scholarship at St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls, in honor of Vicki’s parents, Arley and Naomi Lyseng.
Both of the Lyseng’s were lifetime music educators, touching the lives of thousands of children. In an effort to continue the legacy, the Spofford family made a donation to establish this annual scholarship.
This year’s scholarship recipient is Kalli Sobania, who studies both violin and piano at St. Francis Music Center. Sobania has studied violin since she was five-years old under the direction of Celo V’ec, and now studies piano under Kevin Stueven. She participates in the String Orchestras at St. Francis Music Center. In addition, she plays flute in the Mary of Lourdes bands and plays in her family band.
Sobania is in the 6th grade at Mary of Lourdes Middle School, Little Falls. She loves to spend time with her family and friends and her hobbies include reading and drawing. Sobania enjoys spending time with her pets – one dog, two cats and four horses. In the future Sobania would like to become a doctor, nurse or veterinarian.
Sobania was nominated for this award by her teachers for her musicality and her dedication to her musical studies. She is the daughter of Monique and Rich Sobania, Little Falls.
