St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls, is proud to announce Quinn Rick and Colin Welch as recipients of the 2012 Sister Justina Bieganek Music Scholarships.
This scholarship was established in 2004 by family members, friends and fans of Sister Justina in honor of her 75th anniversary as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls.
Sister Justina has worked at St. Francis Music Center since its start in 1979, and even at the great age of 100 (pictured at her 100th birthday party), still works in the Music Center every day. She is well loved and respected by the students, staff and faculty.
Quinn Rick, the son of Bob and Tammy Rick of Browerville, is in the ninth grade and is homeschooled. He has played piano for 4 ½ years and violin for 2 ½ years. He also plays violin/fiddle in his family band. Quinn also likes to play football, collect agates, and go on BWCA canoe trips with his family. He enjoys taking care of the family’s horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. Quinn plays piano for Sunday school and helps in the church nursery.
Colin Welch, the son of Teresa and Chris Welch of Holdingford, is also homeschooled and is in the ninth grade. He has played guitar for eight years and plays in his church band. His favorite activities outside of music are hunting and fishing.
Quinn and Colin were chosen for this award, which is the highest scholarship honor awarded at the Music Center, based on their many musical achievements, and also for their love of music and for the hours that they dedicate to practicing. They are responsible, generous and truly exceptional young men.
