Sam Vorderbruggen taught drums and guitar at St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls, during the 2010-2011 school year but passed away on June 23, 2011. Music was Sam’s passion. He was a great musician, always learning, always playing,
always sharing. In addition, he also had a wonderful knack for teaching. Sam truly cared about each student; he wanted everyone to find their talent and discover the joy that music can bring to each life. Sam was a musician, philosopher, practicer of peace, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a friend to all. The Music Center staff has now established a scholarship in honor of their co-worker and friend.
Anthony Westerberg, son of Michelle Westerberg, Little Falls, was chosen as this year’s recipient of the Samuel Vorderbruggen Scholarship. Anthony studied drums under Sam and is now a student of Greg Langlois. Greg nominated Anthony for this award based on his dedication and musical talent. Anthony is in the seventh grade at the Little Falls Community High School. He plays football, is in the band, Bullet Charm, and plays for Bethel Lutheran Church, Little Falls. His future ambition includes being in a famous band.
