Band Instruments and Percussion
|
|
Private lessons on all band instruments are available to students of all ages and abilities. School band students benefit greatly by private one-on-one lessons and often move ahead more quickly in band. Beginning students are given more options as to the instruments they would like to play (including drums) when they take private lessons. Advanced students who want to continue playing in college also benefit from private lessons.

Guitar / Bass Guitar
|
Have you dreams of playing in a rock band, playing folk songs and singing around the campfire? Private lessons are available to people of all ages on acoustic, electric or bass guitar. You can choose to study classical, rock, jazz or country music. All students will receive a strong fundamental background on guitar that will allow them to grow into strong musicians, whatever the final goal.

|
| Alternative Guitar |
This guitar method is much easier on the fingers and easier to learn. It is great for younger students to start on and for adults who want to learn to strum along on songs without a lot of study. This method works well for fingers that are not so nimble but need the exercise. Students can easily move on to the traditional guitar method as their
fingers get stronger.

Piano
|
Private piano lessons are available for students of all ages and abilities. We are prepared to teach beginning students up to the most advanced students. Many adults choose to fulfill that life-long wish to play piano by taking lessons. Students are also encouraged to take part in recitals at the end of each quarter. As students advance, other opportunities are available, including the Keyboard Festival, MMTA competitions and concerto auditions with the Heartland Symphony Orchestra. Our piano lessons are very comprehensive and include music theory, sight-reading, technique, ear training and performing.

| Piano with Dr. Turley |
Intermediate and advanced piano students and teachers have a unique opportunity to study with a true piano artist close to home! Dr. Edward Turley, faculty member at the College of St. Benedict / St. John's University will teach lessons here every other Monday evening.

|
| Piano Party |
This class is a great way for beginning
piano students to get off to a good start in music. Open to 4 and 5 year olds who show an interest in piano or music but are not ready for individual lessons. The
class will consist of games and activities integrating music and piano skills. The class will use our electronic teaching lab where each student has their own keyboard that is individually monitored by the teacher.

|
| Organ |
Church and recreational organ lessons are available to students of all ages and skill levels. Our advanced students are in great demand to play at local church services, weddings
and funerals.

| Strings - Violin, Cello, Viola |
We offer private violin, cello and viola lessons at the Music Center. Our outstanding teacher is able to teach all levels, from beginning to advanced. The area schools do not have orchestra or string programs, so this is an opportunity for students who desire to play a stringed instrument to have high quality instruction.
|
|
| Beginning String Ensamble |
A string orchestra for beginning string students is held on Saturday mornings.
This is for all string students in the area who are just beginning lessons. It is a great
opportunity to motivate young students to play and practice. The time spent playing together will be fun and relaxed. Led by Celo V’ec, the orchestra will meet every Saturday morning, 11–12 p.m.
|
| Sfz String Orchestra |
All area bowed string students and artists are invited to become a part of The
Sforzando String Orchestra. This group meets weekly to play music together and to enjoy the company of other string players. There is no age limit to the group, and you do not have to take private lessons at the Music Center to participate. Grants from the Minnesota Arts Board and US Bank allow us to offer this opportunity for free. Led by Celo V’ec, the orchestra meets every Tuesday evening from 7:30–9 p.m.
