FINANCIAL AID
Financial Aid is offered to families with low incomes or special circumstances through grants from the Laura Jane Musser Fund; Minnesota State Arts Board; Pine Country Bank; Mille Lac Band of Ojibwe; Central Minnesota Community Foundation; and many private donations. PIANO
Private piano lessons are available for students of all ages and abilities. We are prepared to teach beginning students up to the most advanced students. Many adults choose to fulfill that life-long wish to play piano by taking lessons. Students are also encouraged to take part in recitals at the end of each quarter. As students advance, other opportunities are available, including the Keyboard Festival and concerto auditions with the Heartland Symphony Orchestra. Our piano lessons are very comprehensive and include music theory, sight-reading, technique, ear training and performing.
BAND INSTRUMENTS & PERCUSSION
Private lessons on all band instruments are available to students of all ages and abilities. School band students benefit greatly by private one-on-one lessons and often move ahead more quickly in band. Beginning students are given more options as to the instruments they would like to play (including drums) when they take private lessons. Advanced students who want to continue playing in college also benefit from private lessons.
GUITAR & BASS GUITAR
Have you dreamed of playing in a rock band or playing folk songs and singing around the campfire? Private lessons are available to people of all ages on acoustic, electric or bass guitar. You can choose to study classical, rock, jazz or country music. All students will receive a strong fundamental background on guitar that will allow them to grow into strong musicians, whatever the final goal.
UKULELE
St. Francis Music Center is pleased to offer various levels of group ukulele instruction! Whether you are a seasoned player or have never held a ukulele before, you are welcome! We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes, in addition to a Ukulele Orchestra. Ukuleles and books are provided by the music center free of charge for class participants. Call our office for more information!
VIOLIN, CELLO, VIOLA & STRING BASS
We offer private violin, cello, viola, and string bass lessons at the Music Center. Our outstanding teachers are able to teach all levels, from beginning to advanced. The area schools do not have orchestra or string programs, so this is an opportunity for students who desire to play a stringed instrument to have high quality instruction.
VOICE
Private voice lessons give you the opportunity to develop your voice to its full potential. You will develop a fundamental understanding of the voice and useful singing and speaking techniques. Problems of breathing, body alignment, tone production, tension and diction will be addressed with specific exercises. Singers, speakers and actors are welcome!
ST. FRANCIS PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE & JUNIOR ENSEMBLE
The Music Center has two percussion ensembles that meet weekly. The Junior group meets on Tuesdays and the Senior group on Wednesdays. The group perform a wide variety of music on percussive instruments and objects. No drumming experience is needed but at least one year of piano or study on another instrument is required. The coaches, John Tetrault and Amanda Jansen, will audition anyone who is interested. Adults are welcome to join as well!
