ST. FRANCIS STRING ORCHESTRA PROGRAM
St. Francis Music Center is proud to sponsor several opportunities for students and adults from the community to perform in a string orchestra. Participation in more than one orchestra is encouraged!
The St. Francis Sonata Orchestra is for musicians closer to the beginning of their musical journey at any age. This group is a great follow-up to the Intro to Strings Summer Camp and meets on Tuesdays from 5:15-6:00 pm. The Sonata Orchestra is a balance between classroom learning of techniques needed for group string playing and the preparation of materials for our orchestra concerts.
The St. Francis Mezzo Orchestra meets on Tuesdays from 6:00-6:45 pm. In this orchestra, players dive deeper into ensemble playing and continue to refine the skills needed for playing independent parts within a group. This orchestra welcomes participants of the Level 1 Summer String Class!
The St. Francis Maestoso Orchestra focuses on intermediate and advanced orchestra works. Our goal is to transform the notes on the pages into beautifully expressive music. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm with some Saturday rehearsals.
The St. Francis Chamber Orchestra is an opportunity for the more advanced string players to perform small ensemble repertoire at a higher level. Director: Amanda Janson
Rehearsals for all orchestras are on Tuesday evenings, scheduled as follows: Sonata Orchestra 5:15-6, Mezzo Orchestra 6-6:45, Maestoso Orchestra 7-8, and Chamber Orchestra 8-8:30. For more information on joining, please contact the Music Center!
BRASS ENSEMBLE
Meets Tuesdays year round from 6-7:30pm, exploring music from a variety of styles and genres. The ensemble is open to kids and adults with a minimum two years of study on a brass instrument. If you are looking for an opportunity to play in a smaller ensemble and expand your playing experience, please join us! The ensemble is free to all participants and you may join at any time. Please call in advance to register your name and instrument so we can prepare music for you.
